Michelle Obamas first job was as a cook at a fancy New York City restaurant. She made the most delicious pasta and was known for her ability to get the most out of each and every dish. After that she went on to become a New York City reporter for a local newspaper. In a few short years she had covered everything from the riots in Ferguson, Missouri, to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.
So why did she leave the job she loved so much to go to work for the Clinton Administration? Well, she said it was because she wanted to stay in touch with her roots. She says she was a native New Yorker, and she wanted to reconnect with her friends, family, and city that she loved.
Well, I can’t prove that’s the reason, but if you ask me it sounds legit. I don’t know why I thought it was, but I do know that she did it for the right reasons. It is a sign of how easy it is to get sucked into what seems like a very good idea, but is actually a very bad idea.
Well, I like to think of myself as a centrist. I mean, I’m not really a fan of some of the ideas I hear coming out of the White House, but I do think that Obama has done some good things. My biggest issue with him is his rhetoric. In the past, he has tried to “de-mythify” some of his policies.
I hear this a lot from those that care about the idea of “social justice”, and it is a bit of a problem. In fact, I hear this in many of the “conversations” that I have with people. It is so obvious, and so transparent, that there can be no doubt as to whether or not it is something that is really being said.
I think that Obama has made a concerted effort to de-mythify some of his policies. He is not the first president to do so, and he might not be the last. I think that he has also tried to make the point that while some people are racists and others are just like him, there are no winners here. It is certainly not the case that those who are opposed to the war in Afghanistan are racists.
Of course there are people who are racists. But the fact that so many people oppose the war makes it pretty silly to think that racism is a huge factor. And the fact that so many people oppose Obama’s policies makes it pretty silly to think that he is a racist. He is not a racist. He is a president who is trying to make policy based on fact.
These are not the kind of people to be racist.
The fact that so many people are opposed to the war in Afghanistan is pretty silly. While we should not support war, we should support the right to protest it. Even if it is wrong to do so, we should stand up to those who would do it.
The war in Afghanistan is not only wrong, it’s immoral. For decades the Bush administration has lied about the mission and never came up with a plan to conduct a meaningful search and destroy mission over an actual enemy. And just as in the Iraq war, the Bush administration’s failure to conduct a comprehensive search was the reason American and allied forces were defeated in Iraq.
